Getting a new aquarium (30gal) and it comes with the 3+. I was originally going to get the tetra, but reading on here, it seems the Fluval 3+ is adequate for the job?

Any thoughts?

:good:

Hi,

Welcome to the forum.

I got the 3+ when I got my first tank, A Fluval Deep 800. They are fine and I never had any problem with mine. The only slightly annoying thing is that are quite big and take up a bit of room. I was then able to get hold of a Tetratec EX700 for a very good price and they are outstanding, very quiet, very reliable. In my opinion I would get the Tetratec and keep the 3+ as a backup filter if ever you need one.

Hope this helps,

Richard

for not many extra £'s i'd go for the ex1200, i ran one on a 120 litre tank and it was crystal clear. Plus when the (inevitable lol) next upgrade happens you already have the biggest filter in the range

Hi,

I would agree with that too. Just at the time the EX700 was too good to turn down. However if you cant afford the EX1200 then I would get the EX700. I think it is better to have a little extra in reserve then be pushing it to the limit, plus if you overstock a little it shouldnt have too much of an effect.

Yeh good advice, I was thinking that :shifty:

I'll let you know when I get all my kit, certainly a bit different than keeping a single goldfish :hyper:

Was thinking of going marine, Ive sorta been talked out of it LOL

But I did want Nemo

I have the Fluvial 3+ in one of my tanks and a TetraTech EX700 in another. The difference is pretty visible to me. The EX700 is by far the better filter (also quieter) and keeps the water in my 65 litre pretty much crystal clear.

You can pick up the EX700 for £45 on ZooPlus using a voucher and it's delivered free :). It comes direct from Germany (with an adapter), i have yet to find a place in the UK that you can get it cheaper!! Also delivery dont take too long either. Ive waited longer for things to be delivered from companies based in the UK.
