Enjoyed my little tank so much that have decided to get a new bigger one. Picked it up the other day and it looks wonderful. Cycling at the moment. Decided to use sand over gravel, what a complete pain in the arse cleaning sand is compared to gravel/pebbles!!!

Anyway, looking forward to getting some new fish in a few weeks/ a month or so.

Going to pick up a Red male Siamese fighting fish eventually (they are lovely fish), are there any common fish you would not recommend mixing with siamese? apart from other males lol

Yes, My friend has just had to remove his siamese fighter from his community tank because it was having a little disagreement with some angel fish. I think that it is not recommended to put them in with Angles. It is funny because they have been getting on fine for quite a while.

There's loads of fish not to mix with bettas to be honest.

Any nippy fish (such as tiger barbs, tetras)
Any gouramis
Guppies

There's loads more but I don't know them all. You'd probably better off looking into the fish that can be kept with bettas, as that list is much shorter.

this may help http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=96682

To be honest I think bettas are better off on their own rather in a community tank. You will be very limited in your choiices of fish to go with your betta. May I suggest you have a small 3-5G tank with a betta as well as a community tank. You'll have a lot more freedom in stocking that way and the betta would probably be happier.
