Fluke On Gold Severum & Fussy Eating

First off Hello to any1 who reads this lol, right, I have a gold severum who is fairly big and is very healthy etc, well kinda but will get to that in a bit, the thing thats bugging me is the black dot above his nose, it's like something is buried under his skin but it just sits there, it went away randomly once but came back very soon after, it's not affecting him health wise but it really does bug him, every now and then he will flick his head left as though something just stung him? any ideas? another thing is my Gold Sev will not eat flake, he will only ever eat sinking pellets or frozen stuff like bloodworms or prawns, is this ok or should I stop feeding him the pellets until he eats flake?

How long have you had the Sev ? Mine at first would only eat sinking food, but now eats anything. I think mainly because he has to compete with the tankmates, so the pickiness stopped there.

As to the spec on its nose... no idea... a pic would be good as Faythee said

fish can be picky with food. Flake food is hardly necessary to keep a cichlid healthy as there are pellets specifically engineered for their nutritional needs. So as long as it keeps eating the sinking pellets and the occasional meaty food... bloodworms, shrimp/krill...maybe a veggie.... then you have nothing to worry about its health

oh and to reply to this, had my sev maybe since around xmas time or something.He used to eat flake but just randomly stopped, he ain't the brightest fish though thats for sure.

Yeah it does def bug every now and then, it's like something stings him and then he flicks his head left, he never flicks his head the other way so it has to be that,I couldn't think of anything else that would bury itself in like that so I thought it was a fluke but as Spishkey said it looks like a splinter.Maybe is but why would it go away and then appear again in the same place confused lol, any other ideas? and thanks for the cute sev comment lol
