Right, last weekend i did a huge water-change and re-design of my 60 litre tank.
All my vallis is now in one thick forrest. And i think that it is flowering.
Spiral stems from the base of the plants reaching up to the surface, where 4 of the stems are budding and one is beginning to open into a small white flower.
My friends have never heard of this, and i was wondering if anyone knows anything about it - why, how what do the "seeds" look like etc.

P.S. does anyone know how to upload photos onto a post?

wow that sounds fab. Would love to see some photos.

For this section you'll first need to upload your photos to something like www.photobucket.com (it's free and takes 2 ticks to set up and account) and then copy the IMG link under the photo and paste it here in your post :good:

lot's of aquatic plants flower but we rarely see it. I've had elodea and apon. flower before. Looked like little daisies. I know that apongeton flowers but you want to prevent it if you notice it happening. It causes the plant to die off until next season. It is probably different for your plant but I'd check into it. Just google the name of your plant and the word flower.

Plants reaching the surface usually are very healthy. It is usually far easier for a plant to take CO2 from the air than from the water, and there is almost always a higher concnetration in the air than in the water, too. The plant that broke the surface should be nice and healthy for quite some time.

So that's why my apono looks like crap! When will it come back to life?

Yeah I’ve had vallis flower, it throws up a round thin stem with a long bud on it which reaches the surface, it’s a pale white four petal very small flower, then it curls the stem drawing the seed pod back into the water and the seeds fall to the bottom and germinate. The seeds are very small dark coloured and the seedlings are tiny.
