I've noticed a lot of fish from South America have horizontal striped tails, like the flag tail prochilodus, flag tail porthole catfish, I even think there's a pirhana with some stripes. However, from what I've seen they all come from the South America region. I know Synodontis decorus has the black and white stripes on its tail, but they are vertical. I know there is a reason for this but what?
