fishless cycleing and ammonia

If you use fishless cycleing you have to add ammonia. i know what much lol. but how much ammonia do you add? and do you add it once a day......once a week........or what?

For a starter, I'm pretty sure that initially you add enough pure ammonia to raise the ammonia level in the tank to 5ppm. Then, repeat that daily until ... something happens -- I think until the nitrites show up, at which point you halve the dose. But those two articles explain it pretty well.
