Hey everyone,
I'm posting this for a couple reasons. First, being relatively new to tropical fishkeeping, I am looking for some general advice on maintenance, filtration, etc. Second, more specifically, I have periodically had this one problem that seems to occur quite often in my tanks. After the tank has been going well for a while, my fish will begin to just die off. They will get symptoms that seem similar to those of ich, but no ich treatment seems to do the trick. They will all die off shortly. This happened in my 10 gallon tank, until I sterilized it. After sterilizing and cleaning it, I introduced some fish to it, and they are doing great. However, in my 29 gallon tank, this has happened twice now. The pH of the 29 gallon tank is about 6.0, there is 0 ppm ammonia, and the nitrates and nitrites are also 0. If anyone knows what I might do about this, I would appreciate it. I don't know if this has happened to any of you before, but if it has I would appreciate any help you can give.
Sorry for the lengthy post,
