Fish Herder
So... I was checking out this new (to me) pet store in pittsburgh and....they were selling alligators!
actually, i wasn't too impressed with the quality of their stock. The tank with the betta females would have made you cry, but it DID afford me the opportunity to see a lot of unusual fish i've never seen before. I wish i could say more nice things about it. They had some beautiful and unusual fish, but there were lots of sick fish and seemed like all the employees there today had no particular desire to pull the dead ones out. poor fishes! There were also some dyed fish, and some sweetheart parrots.
Their birds were in cramped quarters, too. The breeding pairs of macaws were in cages that were about half (at the most) the size of the cages petsmart used to keep their single display parrot in. And lots of other large (though slightly smaller) birds were being kept along the same row/ in the same style of cages that they had a couple gerbils in. These were about the size of your average petstore small mammal "habitats".
I couldn' make up my mind about the place. I loved their fish, they had so many unusual kinds, even some plakat and halfmoon bettas, and i was a little starstruck seeing all these new fish, but now thinking back on it, it was pretty appalling.
And again, can i just say... ALLIGATORS???
