Right i have just been reading the thread about the jewel tanks and their lighting problems. I think all tanks will have their plus's and minus's and i think that a handy thread would be to name the tanks and the problems you have had with them.

I have a 20g fish are fun tank which i have had leakage problems with because of bad design! They did fix it very fast so they are obvious used to dealing with complaints!!

I am looking at corner tanks and have seen a good few. I am slowly being put off the Juwel Trigon 190 but would love to hear some good stories!!!

Also have looked at the Eheim tanks ( they have a corner one) any comments about them??

Ok guys let rip with all your complaints but leave good points on your tanks aswell!!

Cheers

ok here goes.

JUWEL RIO 180

PLUS'
* Good tank build qualty
* Fast replacment parts when dealing with Juwel directly
* Nice Designs
* Easily assembled stand

MINUS' (in my exp)

* Onto my 3rd lighting unit in 6 Months.
* Heater failed within 3 months
* Internal filter not good enough needs to be at least backed up with an external or removed completly

Would I buy again?

Yes allthough i have had probs with the lights overall the problems get fixed right away, and i just the love the overall feel of the tank.

hya, completely disagree with your against comments for rio 180,had mine for 3 years, never changed light unit yet(touch wood)heater still going strong, and i think the filter works ok,but then i suppose when it comes down to filters its personal choice,i also had vision 180 for 3 years and again no probs

Juwel Rekord 60 and 70

Plus

well built, quite nice-looking tanks
I actually find the internal filter quite easy to maintain
filter is ok for planted and lightly stocked tanks, so does me well

Minus

needed stronger lightbulb for plants (my first buy)
if you keep messy fish you may want to supplement/replace filter

after 2 years, the heater in the 70 has just given out, but that is the first and only part to fail; in less than half that time I've had to replace both lights, heater and filter on the Rena tank I have

Juwel Rio 240

Plus

well built tank as above
double hood makes it easy to access any part of tank
lighting is better for these tanks, seems perfectly adequate for modest plants (anubias, Java ferns, hygrophilas, Java moss)

Minus

cabinet opens at the back, things fall out
again, with extra-messy fish, you might well want to up the filtration
bristlenose fry do sometimes get into the filter box, but don't seem to have had any casualties

no trouble so far since May

I did put in my exp and you can't disagree with my exp

Rena.....all the way.....the rolles royce of fish tanks. they are very well made hence the price, and the filters and heaters get my vote also. I would buy another one defo. :good: :good:

Thanks for your comments!! I am still looking at the jewel tanks.

I have a 20gl Fish'R' Fun tank which has the filtration unit attached into the hood and the hood is also fixed on and cannot be removed. There is a large access area in the lid to let you into the tank.

Has no joining seem at the sides as is one piece of glass
Filtration, lighting and airstone all connect to the one plug and are supplied
Filtration is actually contained in a unit in the roof which is easily removed and none messy
Was cheaper than alot of other tanks the same size and came with a good package

Dislikes
Think design is flawed as has already leaked once!! (Was fixed very quickly)
Filter isn't very powerful
Hood looks fairly cheap.

Would i buy again??
mmmmmm, they fixed the problem quickly and tank looks great and comes with a chunky solid unit so maybe if i needed a cheaper tank. Just not sure about the design thing!!

My other tank is a AQUA one 20Gl. Filtration in the hood again.

Lighting seems to get the plants to grow rapidly!!
Fish always do well

Dislikes
Filter is contained in hood and is murder to clean (involves removing half the hood)
Filter is very weak
Access to tank isn't great unless you remove some of the lid

Would i buy again?
Possible but i would add an external filter instead.

Keep posting guys!!

Anybody got a Trigon 190 they can tell me about??
