My fish (5 guppies, 6 pristella tetras and 3 otos in a 125l tank) seem to be entering a pooing olympic championship, and despite doing a vacuum and water change weekly, there seems to be a flurry of poo in certain areas of the tank. My gravel does not now slope smoothly from front to back as my gravel vaccuum disturbs the gravel quite a lot. Is there a simple way of vaccuuming this up wihout syphoning off too much water?! :hyper:

Try one of these - its a gravel vac which filters the water through a washable gauze bag and tips the water straight back into the tank. Can clean the gravel for as long as you like without thw water level being affected.

Power gravel cleaner

The poo will collect in your tank in 'dead' spots - more water movement would help this but may not suit your fish? Could try feeding them a bit less too - fish are real opportunists and will always eat more food than they need. Practically it will just pass straight through them and add to the waste if it isn't needed but they will still eat more if they can get it.

and you can gaurantee as soon as you vac they will all start pooing straight away again...
