Hi,

First off - apologies if i am in the wrong section here.

I woke up this morning and have found an unusual bunch of - what i can only guess - eggs in my tank. My most recent habitants are a male and female Lyretail killifish. My guess is that possibily they have come from these pair.
But i'm new to the whole breeding/eggs scenario and i dont quite know what i should do, or even if they are eggs.

They move about and i've just seem the other fish eating at them. Any advice is very welcome!

I would say there Ancistrus eggs. That was my first though before i even saw the stocking because of look and being just outside a cave. By the looks of it they have been rejected so if you want to save them put them in a breeding trap or spare tank with an airstone or filter if in separate tank and they should within about 5 days. Once they do they will live of the yolk sacs for a few days. Once this is gone they can start feeding on the same as the adults.

Wow, the Ancistrus.. Well the whole thing leaves me in a predicament. I dont own a second tank or a breeding trap, and i also leave for a five week holiday in one day, so leaving anything more than feeding it in the hands of the guardian for this time isn't really an option either.

Is my only other option to get them out of the tank and disposed of? is it poisoning the water/fish by being in there?

Thats fair enough. Im not to sure how you would go about humanly killing eggs. If it was me i would just leave them in there and see what happens, they will either get eaten or hatch.

I dont think its possible to humanly kill them... anyhow. I was thinking to just leave them in the tank and let nature take its cause. I'm kinda disappointed it has happened now.. The Ancisturus would of been my top choice to of seen breed.

Thanks for the help Kizno1 :good:

Dont worry about that, now they have started it will be harder to stop them than to get them to breed haha. I found my male kicked out the first few lots of fry but after a while they learn and they had 100s of fry before i sold them.
