I keep dwarf rasboras in my planted nano (24x8x8") which I cant have a lid on the tank due to the lights, but whenever I get a new batch I loose 60-70% due to them jumping out within the first 48 hrs or so. Just wondering if anyone has any tips on stopping them doing it? Or even a hood that would allow light through but still cover the tank? I did DIY a clear plastic cover with a model making friend of mine, a work of art even if I do say so, but the water condensed on it and prevented the light getting through so no luck, unfortunately.

Many thanks

Sam

if they're just jumping in the first 24hrs then you only need a temporary solution. they're just reacting badly to the change of conditions. get some sort of net/mesh and get that over the top of the tank for a week after putting them in.

Hello,
The plexiglass sounds good but i had a 2ft tank with no lid i just covered it with a bit of netting with small holes i put that on top and it worked great for keeping the fish in cause i had betta in it which was a good jumper.
Good Luck.

Guess I could drill holes in the DIY cover I made. I have for the time being put two hair nets over the tank, fully expect to find some hanging from it when I get home tomo!

Thanks for the advice :)

get a really fine mesh like gauze, it'll let light through (although you might wanna up the photoperiod or something) but they won't be able to get trapped in it
