could we possibly encourage people who own fish that are in the index to post what they kept them with, how long they kept them together, what their experience was, how big the tank was, how the tank was set up, how big the fish were etc... I think it may help people stock there tanks in the future. I'm not sure if this could be done in a worthwhile way but I would like to have a compatability resource somewhere on the forums and I'm kinda sick of all the stocking questions that get asked, I've asked a few myself (often with dismal response). I know I'd be willing to post my stocking arrangements, which one's have worked which ones have not. There is the issue of each fishes personality and unique experiences. Well the more I think about this idea the less it seems like it will work but there are people here that are smarter than me so maybe you guys can think of something.

The problem with that is that everyone has their own idea on stocking - rightly or wrongly. And all circumstances are different. There very often isn't one "rule" to apply for each fish or compatibility. I think people need and must ask stocking questions to confirm their specific setup.

If you don't like stocking questions, don't read those threads :) Easy to avoid if the topic is worded right.

Some sections, including ours (nano reefs and marine) have posted a members tank pin where they can post their tank with complete setup and stocking. Perhaps you may want to start one of your own threads like this and ask your section mod to pin it. SH

well I was kinda thinking it would be better if members could decide on a centerpiece fish or just one fish they really want and then use the fish index to find what other members have kept with it and what there experience has been. I don't think this would work with what you've done steelhealr although it is a good idea in and of itself. What do you think?
