Fish Found In Filter

Hi,

How can I stop my fish from getting in the filter?


I just cleaned my filter and found a dead cardinal tetra and a few baby platy. Two of which were still alive!!

I also found a dead female danio a few weeks ago.

I have a interpet pf3 filter. I would had thought the holes where the water goes in would be too small for the danio to get through.

Please help.

I'm sure I read somewhere that you can pop a stocking or half a pair of tights over the filter to prevent this from happening.

spot on boo.

pull some form of small gauze over it. some choices are:

plastic small for bauze sheeting.
a bit of clean tights.
A breeding traps net (I use one of these to reduce the output of a filter)

Just remember that whatever you put over it will also act as a filter layer removing large debris at that stage, and so it will probably need a fairly regular clean.
