I will soon have a 46 gallon bowfront glass tank. I have done some research and made this list, please review and alos please make suggestios for other possible fish. While I am not completeley new to tropical fish my last tank was a 20 gallon and I woud like to start with some beginer-intermediate fish. Also in this over stocked?

12 small tetra same kind
6 danios same kind
8 barbs same kind
4 corydoras same kind
2 otto catsifih
1 kuhli loach
pair of gourami
3 platys- 2 female 1 male

were talking 46 US g yeah? i think your current stocking is a bit too high

i would go

10 tetra (carindals)
8 barbs
8 danios (zebras)
5 cories (any type)
2 gourami (not sure on a type)

otto's like groups as do khulies, platies will have you over run with fry, barbs can be very active and some nippy (depends what sort). maybe you could fit in another kind of fish.

if you can be more specific on species i could help you more.

:good:

Well for each category I have some specific species in mind here ill list em:

Tetras
Neon Tetras
Rummy Nose Tetra
Glowlight Tetra
Red Eye Tetra
Lemon Tetra

Barbs
Cherry Barb
Golden Barb
Rosy Barb

Gourami
Dwarf Gourami
Honey Gourami

Im not to sure on the danios nemore I had em last time and i dont particularily like them I think with bars and tetras ill have enough small schooling fish. Do you think if I slash the danios and the kuhli and added 2 ottos the stocking would be better and the ottos would be happier?

well you could go with 2 shoals of different tetra?

rummy nose and neons?

any of those barbs.

honey over dwarf, as dwarf gourami's haven't had much luck with me there is something about a bacterial infection they carry.

:good:

Ive come up with a revised list

8-10 small tetra same kind
8-10 small tetra same kind
8 barbs same kind
4 Otto Catfish
Pair of Honey gourami

Also do you know of any other fish similar to gourami, I want something slightly larger and very colorful that doesnt require a shoal since the tank is about full.

you could go with a RTBS maybe? or a small cichlid? or a paradise fish?

i think you go go with them.

:good:

I read somewhere that red tail black sharks are quite agressive once they reach there full size, even swallowing neons. Is this true?

I always loved the look of ths fish but with the small fish that are in the tank an angry red tail could cause some damage.
