well I'm in university and the girl down the hall from me had a small fish tank given to her and she was soo happy. then she started to get really stuffed up and red in the face over the next few days..... she called her mother about it and she told her that when she was really young they had a fish tank but had to get rid of it because her and her sister were both allergic to the fish food......

i feel really bad about this because she had to give them away and she really liked them. i was thinking that this may be a common problem and there may be a way around it. Personally i was considering getting her a betta and getting her to try feeding with pellets instead of flake food in hope that that would work.

is anyone allergic to the food they feed, or have you heard of this before? will changing the type of food have any impact or are all foods made the same?

Thanks alot Everyone !!!

My mom is really allergic to blood worms so I had to give away my frogs when I was young. She should go to the doctors and find out what exactly she is allergic to in the fish food. Then if she finds out she can buy food with diffrent ingredients.

She should find out what exactly it is in the fish foods that give her allergic reactions, otherwise there's no point in her setting her heart on another fish if she doesn't know exactly whats giving her bad reactions in the food, sometimes the culprit can be something like mold on the food which is not visable to the eye for example.
