Fish A Tthe Bottom Of My Tank At The Corner

does anyone know what causes fish to go into the corners of tanks?
could be a combination of resons why.

1 it could be pregnant and looking for somewhere to drop fry, if its a livebearer ofcourse.
2 could just be resting, quite common
3 could be a female hiding from the advances of males
4 some fish do sleep during the day
5 could be protecting a nest (depending on the type of fish)
6 could be that it just cant be bothered to do anything else

take a good look at it and where its hiding, note any physical signs of possible illnesses eg change of colour, clamped fins etc....... check your water stats as a safe guide and if things need changing then you can sort it quick, good luck, hope its ok and just cant be bothered with doing anything else

I once got a platy, but it was a swordtail, and it got fin-nipped to death and was cowering in the corner, scared insanely.

Well is it just kind of "sitting" there or is it frantically trying to swim into the corner?

Sometimes fish will "pace" the tank if they see reflections of themselves in the glass, or if they don't have enough swim space, or are just plain neurotic like that...

Hiding is generally a sign of stress, illness, or being afraid of something (either you or other fish in the tank).

Trying to "swim out of the tank" can sometimes be an indication of poor water quality, stress, etc. Check your water parameters with a liquid test kit (Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrates). Ammonia and Nitrite should be zero...above .25 ppm is toxic. Nitrates should be below 20 ppm if possible, and if over 40 ppm start doing a good water change.
