Good link, that's a nice summary.
With fm's in particular sex can be difficult to tell until the fish are at least 1/3 grown. Some males will show long fin extensions at a smaller size, though not always. Males also tend to have a larger overall head in comparison to the rest of the body. Again, not exact but a general guideline. It can be hard to see this unless you have a female to compare to. I've been keeping and breeding fm's for years and I still have 3" fish sometimes that I can't sex. Often it's behaviour of two fish together that indicate a pair, then you can look more closely for physical differences.
One point to remember here is not to rely on color to sex fm's, especially at a small size. Fish that are washed out and pale can be male or female. The amount of color they show is usually a result of environmental factors such as water condition, diet, stress level and especially the presence of other fish.
As for ease of breeding, That depends a lot on the individual fish involved. However, for the most part they are considered a fairly easy fish to spawn. They seem to prefer a private spot, like a nice cave or flowerpot, usually out of direct sight from other fish (and sadly, fishkeepers, too). Again, not hard and fast rules, just general guidelines I've noticed over the years.
