 Can any one please give advice? I have a 5 inch Koi who has fin rot which is located on the tail fin. It has eaten away only the centre part of the fin to the tail body which is a little red. I have resolved the water problem that has caused it which was high ammonia levels due to new pond syndrome. The ph is: 7.5 Ammonia: 0 Nitrite is: .5
I have added .2% rock salt to the water. I am also doing regular 20% water changes.
Thank you. ><}}}}*>

what are you keeping him in? fresh clean water is essential so keep doing water changes regularly and also you can do salt dips....5 level teaspoons of salt in a gallon of water scoop in a net dip the fish straight in and out...dont let it in longer...twice a day.

your nitrite is very high, and thats toxic to fish, i'm guessing as its winter you wont be feeding so your params will be fine now, did the koi make it? potassium permanganate is a good treatment for finrot (which is a bacterial infection)

Where u from and whats' the water temperature?

Good to know you no what caused the problem and resolving it.
A salt dip is a classic way and I have used this with great success in the past.

Still i would use some malicate based treatment, myaxizin is what i would be looking for. And i would treat the whole pond.

agree with this depending on the pond temperature. most treatments are usless at cold temperatures.

i think i saw in your post that you dded salt to the pond. you should never do this. koi are freshwater fish not marine/brackish. not much you can do about it atm though as big water changes will do further damage
