Hi All,

I was wondering what difference a bigger filter in my tank would make. I am currently running with a Fluval 3+ in a 27.5 UK Gallon tank, which seems to be pretty good at what it does, However a friend of mine is selling a Fluval 4+ filter that he got with his new tank, but he has gone and bought an external filter. Would there be any real benefits to the tank if I bought this larger filter. I know that many people think that external filters are best but I haven't got the money at the moment to get one.

Thanks,

Richard

a bigger filter adds extra oxygen in to thte water and moves the water around at a higher pace all in all a bigger filter keeps the water in top condition

Go for it if the price is right. You'll increase flow and often be able to have a greater volume of media as well which is more important in terms of being able to support more fish. From the look of pics ive seen though the actual capacity / size of both filters looks the same although youll be a better judge as youve seen them both.
