Filter Problem

So, I just bought a Marineland
Penguin BIO-Wheel 350


for my fishtank, with the idea of upgrading the size of my tank.

Now, three weeks later the filter has started making this aweful grinding noise. How do I fix it?

try cleaning it with the tank water... so u don't lose the bacteria colonies..

do you have sand? im sure i read somewhere sand can get stuck in the impeller and needs cleaning out...I have no idea how you would go about that on your filter though

I do have sand. Ill see if that's the problem. If the filter stops making the noise, ill let you know!
