I have a whisper 20 filter, and a couple of months ago I replaced the charcol with fluval ceramic media. At this point there is quite a bit of bio matter on the media itself. But now I am facing a new problem. The bag which hold MOST of the bio matter (which is around the ceramic pieces) is starting to give way at the bottom

. I am wondering what my choices are.

I could get a new bag and store it inside the filter for awhile as I'm sure I can make due for at least a month then put my meature media inside of that one

I could just put the ceramic pieces inside a new bag and run it like that

or....................

do you guys have any ideas????

Do you need the bag at all, as long as the filter media is big enough to stay where it is and can be washed easily the bag shouldnt be necessary. Charcoal needs a bag because it can be dusty and you dont want that in the impeller. There will be some good bacteria on the bag, but your filter should be able to take up the slack in a very short time. Any net or a stocking should be fine as long as the water can pass through it if you do need to bag the filter media.

So under that logic I could just get a new bio bag and use the media I have.
