Filter Cleaning

There's probably a simple answer to this question, but at the moment, I'm stumped.
I've got a Fluval 305. While I regularly clean the canister and the media, I imagine the same junk that's in there is probably also in the hoses/tubes (in fact, I can see algae or something through the translucent part of the intake tube). The hoses are like 4 feet long -- how do I clean them?! (preferably an indoor method... there's currently 6 inches of snow on the ground outside....)

You can purchase some sort of "bottle-brush" that you can pull-through.........or do as I do and:

Take pipes off tank,

tie small weight to end of string.....drop down tube.....

...attach some sort of scourer (or the top off one of those sponge/scourer thingys)...to the string.......and pull it through the pipe.

Do it a couple of times, rinse pipe well and hey presto!
