About two years ago when I started my Brackish tank I had a Figure 8 Puffer. I had him for quite some time, then I came home one day and he puffed his last puff. : ( He was full of air and just floating and I never understood why. I was just wondering if anyone knew what this could have been from.

You are asking what killed a fish 2 years ago....it could have been anything. Its long past something that could be identified as 1) you dont have the fish 2) you don't have water samples 3) you dont know if there was anything un-towards dropped in the tank 4) as stated it was 2 years ago.

Id leave this as it is and concentrate on making sure you do everything possible to make your current fish happy. Not nice to loose a fish, even worse when its an intelligent fish like a Puffer but sometimes it just happens :(

Puffers though usually only Puff when its a last resort against a predator or if they feel very very threatened. I had a T. Turdigus that puffed one day when i tripped and the knife i was carrying banged against the tank glass....

Well I did check all the water out and it was all fine. That's why I was wondering if it just happens or what. I had no other fish in the tank and it was in my room so everything was still.

Quite often if a puffer si stressed, it will inflate as a last ditch attmept. Quite often when you see them dead in stores, they're inflated (and subsequently sucked into the filter, grim i know..)
