OK so I have a couple questions.

1.One is I bought 2 angel fish a couple days ago, small ones, one died, and this ones main fin in the middle fell off some how! It's still alive but what should i do???

2. Do i leave my lights on or off at night, i have 2 by the way.

3. I feed my fish brine shrimp, how often should I?

4. I have a 60 gallon tank and currently have 26 fish ranging from 1 to 3 inches, how many fish is too much.

5. i have two Tetra whisper 60 filters running in my tank, good or bad?

1. You need to post the results of water tests, tank temperature, how often you do water changes & how much, and any water treatments or additives used in this tank. A list of tankmates is also needed.

You need to get the finless fish in a smaller tank to heal. Some melafix, with daily water changes would be a good idea. Any redness or whiteness around the fin area would indicate a bacterial problem, and would need medication. It may be caused by aggresiveness on the part of other tank inhabitants.

2. Try to simulate the day/night cycle as much as possible.

3. It depends on the type of fish, how many, how large, and what other foods you are feeding.

4. It all depends on the type of fish.

5. Sounds like plenty of filtration to me, though, once again, it depends on the type of fish.

That's why the request for test results. Just because it's been running for a length of time doesn't mean you didn't pull an oops last week & forget the dechlorinator. :)

It happens to us all.

There is also the oops of adding too much all at once, or swapping out filters all at once, or trading out biomedia all at once, or swishing the biomedia in unfiltered water (such as from the faucet)..... it happens to us all....

... not to me. :look:

No no, never happens to me either! Forgetting to dechlor will help take care of a little algae buildup, but I would never have any personal experience with that happening because the phone rang. :)

If you have 26 fish you need to update your profile and list what types you have- some of your fish may only be 1-3inches long right now but may grow much larger- you also need to take the compatability and activity levels of the fish into consideration as well.
How long has the tank been set up? Have you ever tested the tank for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates?

To be honest I have only lost the 2 angel fish and I am not worried because when i bought them there were a few others already dead. I will admit i didn't cycle my tank but my other fish seem to be fine. I will take my fish in to my pet shop for a water evaluation, but most of my other fish seem to be fine. Also i do dechlorinate the water before i add it usually, and do about a 20% water change every couple weeks. Also I am feeding my fish flakes and adding frozen brine shrimp once a day.

non cycled tank, flake and brine every day..... just sounds like a lot. 20% water change ever couple of weeks is not a lot either on an uncycled tank. i'd be doing 20% per week. just my opinion of corse

Well, if you have no idea of the quantity of brine shrimp or flakes, don't you figure it'd be difficult to make a judgement call on the overfeeding?

ok true, but generally speaking people new to fish keeping with and uncycled tank, i tend to find overfeed fish.

A lot of my friends made this mistake when they started keeping fish dispite me telling them it's better to slightly underfeed than overfeed.

perhaps i made an assumption that Fadi is overfeeding

Right back to the problem with his tank you have to many fish an there for your size tank the gouramis will get bigger than 3" and depeniding on sex are gonna get very aggressive with one an other also you have coldwater fish in with tropical fish so remove the gold fish asap. You need to get your self a test kit and test for ammonia nitrite and nitrate and i would suggest doing a 10% daily water change till you have 0 ammonia and 0 nitrate also you need to get rid of some of your fish.

take the goldfish out
they are messy as hell and are not recommended with tetras..... and gouramis
