If your goal was to grow java moss as fast as possible, what would you do? Live fishes do not need to be there if it doesn't help... ;)

the faster java moss grows the worse it looks.. I use to have my java moss in a 4+wpg tank and the fern was growing less leafy, strings not dense. I since moved it to a low light tank and it looks much better

Edit : I ment to type MOSS not fern

Java moss is a slow growing plant. I'd let it sit freely above the gravel. It will pile up over time.

I realize it is a slow groing plants as I have tonnes of it in most of my fry tanks.... But you can never have enough of it, so I was hoping to setup a separate tank (or a container) that "breeds" java moss.

As an example:

- a shallow & long rubbermaid container, say only 6 inches high
- 30w bulb
- DIY injection
- no filter - leave water dead still (to preserve CO2)

Would this grow java moss faster than what is happening in my fry tanks?

My fry tank:

- 15g long
- tonnes of fishes in there, totally overstocked. (water changes and java moss keeps nitrate levels checked)
- AC200 and two sponge filters that create crazy amount of surface disturbance
- obviously no DIY CO2 injection in this setup...

Would this work? Note that I have never tried DIY CO2 before so I'm not sure of its effectiveness...
