After moving my new gouramis from quarantine to the big tank they are doing well as is everyone but my clown loaches. While the new fish and the danio, rasbora and raphael look fine and everyone is acting fine, my loaches now have the dreaded ich. I am already in the process of increasing the temperature to 86F, did a 50% water change (during the course of which I discovered that my big fish bucket now has a crack  ), removed my carbon filter media, dosed it with RidIck, and turned out the lights. I will continue with the water changes and dosing yada yada. I use a reverse flow undergravel system so I can't use the power head to rile the water, but I do have very active bubbling the full length of the tank and the surface of the water is constantly choppy, just short of whitecaps. I don't think I have to worry about oxygen levels but if I wanted to add more to the water would adding peroxide be an option? I used it years ago when I had an algae outbreak and no one came out worse for the wear. I don't have a place to hang another power head.

If the water surface is moving well it should be fine.
Never heard of anyone using peroxide.
What are the ingredient in the whitepot med as methylene blue good for aeration.

Malachite Green and formalin. I know that peroxide increases the levels of O2 when it is used to combat algae, wasn't sure if anyone had used it specifically to increase oxygen levels. Other than that bout with algae a few years ago (new blinds in the room fixed that), and the cat chewing through an airline and nearly emptying the tank (put the anti-back flow thing inside the tank now) I haven't had anything of anynote happen in this tank in 6 years. This just makes me crazy.

I woudn't add peroxide to the tank.
If you are worried buy some oxygen tablets. But aeration sounds fine to me if the water surface is rippling well.

Thanks. I know it didn't hurt them when I used it before, but if I don't need to add it, it is just one less thing to stress out the poor creatures. I used oxygen tabs when I moved with my fish (ask me about moving a 70 gallon tank to another state and not losing a single fish) years ago and they were no worse for the wear. Will keep an eye on them and add if I see anything out of sorts. Thanks.
