How much room do these take up in an aquarium?
I want to get one of the eheims for my 48 gallon tank, as the stockings increasing slowly & i dont think the standard filters up to the job tbh - but i want to keep my exsiting filter in there too.
If anyone has a pic of one in an aquarium i'd be greatful, as i cant find any pics of one setup.

Depends if you get a spray bar or not.

You usually get two pipes which fix to the tank and run down one corner, they dont take up much room and are fairly inconspiquous (cant spell that!). If you have an internal filter at the moment like a fluval then the room is about the same if not less.

If you want a spray bar then this runs along just under or above the surface and adds aeration to the tank (I like these os it adds some movement and current to the tank.

External filters in my opinion are a must for any decent size tank ad do an excellent job!

Im new to all this but on a larger tank internal filters get a bit bulky. and external filter are about the same regardless. you get 2 pipes that go in to the tank. About 1/2 an inch wide.

As stated get a spray bar and it sits up on the top and is not really able to be seen at all and takes up no room. the current is quite strong but gives the fish somewhere to play.
