how often do you need to change the stuff inside and how do you do it

i have a fluval 304

it depends but i rinse the filter media weekly and if u have carbon that needs to be replaced monthly, and the sponges, i replace mine every 3 or 4 months and the bio stuff about half per year or when it starts to rot
