Looking to replace my external filter. Fluval 307. Getting leaks nearly every change. Cleaned the seals etc. prob wear. 5yrs +. 240l any suggestions on another?

No suggestions on another, I run a Fluval 407 on my aquarium, but not as long as you have. One thing I noted about my canister is that the seals are not particularly tight fitting, I don't believe they handle twisting well. For mine I made sure that there are not a lot of stresses on the hose fittings, and just in case I have put the canister in a plastic tub that will collect any small leaks. Mine hasn't leaked yet, other than when I put the main seal in the wrong channel when I first set it up. But I also only open the filter up every 4 to 6 months (when I had a HOB I cleaned it with each water change with a canister I found I don't need to).

Which seals are giving you the issues? I haven't experienced that the seals have needed cleaning on mine yet, and the only think I have done with them is to put a thin layer of silicone grease on them. My filter is 3 years old now maybe leaking seals is something I have to look forward to, I hope not.

If it's not damaged and your motor head is still good, It's less expensive to buy service kits and replace problematic parts.

A gasket kit or even a complete motor head maintenance kit, are not really expensive compared to a new unit.

Been using Fluval cannister filters for years and never experienced leaking. If you don't connect it up properly after maintenance it can leak. I think they are good filters but I hate the rib hoses. Get yourself a maintenance kit as mentioned.

A single grain of sand can ruin a gasket.

Keep them and their sleeves completely clean and well greased.
