External Filter

I have a Fluval 104 with 4 slots and 3 Draws. I'm going to start a new aquarium and I'd like to know if what i'm going to use is OK.

I'll use:

4 Foam Pads
Bio Max
PolyWool

Is this ok? And what should I use for my spare draw? More Bio Max?

if you are in a an area with soft water i would personal use crushed oyster-shell although this might not be necessary you'll have to do some research

No I have Hard Water.

You could add peat to lower the pH, or activated carbon.

I have 4 drawers too, and I have: ceramic rings, bioballs, 1 fine polish sponge, and 1 rough sponge.

Nah I don't really want to use Filter Peat.

Would Bio Max in the bottom 2 Draws and Polywool in the top draw be best?

The Bio Max would contain the bacteria and the Polywool would polish it before It returned to the aquarium.

I would put the course filter there where the water comes in, then the bio max, and then the polishing sponge just before the water returns into your tank.

What if I've already got four sponge pads in it on the other side like from the media draws.

Ok, looks good! That is the course sponge I was talking about. Yeah, then put the Polywool in the upper one, and you can fill the 2 lower ones with your ceramic rings.
