Ehiem 2217 Setup

Just got hold of a second hand eheim 2217 thing is it only came with the hockey sticks ( inlet & outlet) am I right in thinking I need 12/16mm outlet pipe & 16/22 for the inlet?

Also is the biological media put in loose? Or could I put it into a pair of our lasses tights?

I don't have the 2217 model so I'm not sure about the hose sizes but the Eheim webpage would indicate that you've got it right.
 
The other thing you might want to buy are double tap hose connectors to fit inlet & outlet hoses, these are invaluable for quickly disconnecting and maintaining your filter.

I'm more of a fluval fan, 206/306 & 406 in use this ehiem seems more of a faff on

i believe the inflow is 22mm and outflow is 16mm
