Eheim 2213 Users

Ordered an Eheim 2213 external filter yesterday off the net, brand new. But after looking at the Eheim site it looks like this filter does not come with media.

What sort of media should I buy for this filter and do i need a basket thing to help the media. I am clue less so would appreciate web links as I am so limited around here.

I will be using all my juwel sponges to seed it but presume I need “special” media to get the best out of the Eheim.


Any help really appreciated.

I actually have one that I don't use, but, researched it once. Effimech and substrat should be what you use. I don't use carbon in my aquarium, but, if you wanted it, that can go in. Hope this link helps:

Effimech and substrat should be what you use.

That's what I use in mine, with a coarse and a fine sponge.

what sort of substrate just gravel. also what order do they go in.
