I posted last week that I was thinking of going external with my filteration. I've decided now that I definatly am but I just can't decide between these two models. I only have a 40 UK Gal tank, but will probably upgrading to either a 55 or 70 Gal this year, and I know that both the 2026 and 2028 would be over filtered for this but thats what I want. I was thinking that surely someone here must have owned or currently owns one of these filters and can give me some feedback on them. Thankyou in advance. :)

Hi Jacko
I have the 2026 on a 55 gal tank & have no problems what so ever, even though my tank is a little overstocked (arnt they all !!!!). I would go for the 2028 if your going for a bigger tank. Hope this helps

ye its better 2 overfilter so get the larger model

it will keep nic and clean

adma

I'm running 2026's on both my 47gal tanks, but would agree and go for the 2028 on a larger tank.

Hiya! just to let you know i purchased the eheim 2028 for £119 including media! and i own a juwel vison 180! really i only needed eheim 2026! but running the 2028 for a while now and the water is superp! crystal clear! and the fish love the fast flow from the spray bar.

Id definately say always buy one filter up from the one you want...theres not much differnt in price either its about £15

Good luck

Go with what u can afford, 2028 is better with a massive area for filtration thus giving better codations.

2026 is just a little smaller but i believe they have the same flow rates

Thanks guys. I think i'm probably going to go for the 2028 as most of you have recommended, it isn't much more expensive and it gives me the upgrading ability I want. Thanks again for all your help, now i've just got to find a spare £120.
