I'm interested in breeding some fish that lay eggs. I want quite a small species (about 7cm) that is easy to breed. I also want fish that will protect the eggs/fry and not eat them.

I have thought about angels, rams, corys and plecos but would like some advice and suggestions. Thanks.

Thanks, I haven't seen those before but they look like nice fish.

Hi Thomas 2507 :)

Corydoras fit your size requirement, but once they lay their eggs it's all over for them. They don't care for their fry the way cichlids do.

Hi Thomas 2507 :)

That depends on the species of corydoras you choose. I would recommend a beginner start with bronze or albino C. aeneus. Since corys are schooling fish, I'd suggest getting 3 mature males and 3 mature females.
