Hi,
I have used beefheart quite a lot for my killifish but never in a recipe with other ingredients. I know Discus breeders are into this and believe it gives them the edge when it comes to breeding etc. There are many, many recipes for Discus on the net one of which I have included below.

I have kept and bred discus,
I have fed them on beef heart and lamb heart , as well as on other foods.

I dont mix the heart into a recipe as such. Most recipies call for shreding/liquidising all sorts and then binding with gelatine or agar. This can make for lots of garbage in your tank !

So, my bottom line :
partly freeze your heart until it is 'firm' but not 'rock solid' ,
then it will be easier to cut up with a sharp knife.
Trim off and discard excess fat and any tubes/ ligaments etc., ie. trim back to lean meat.

thinly slice the lean meat into convenient sized 'wafers'
stack these wafers back into a block (refreeze if necessary) and thinly slice again crosswise.
Thus you will have long thin worm-like bits of heart that can be fed directly to the larger discus.

For the smaller young discus you can squeeseze the worm-ish bits together and slice again to get shredded heart.

Avoid liquidisers or other kitchen blender type things, they produce too much fiine particles that will pollute your tank.

You can do the same sort of thing with shrimp/prawn meat, also chicken meat goes down a treat !
Whiteworm is good and easily cultured.
A mixed diet is best, dont feed only heart.
