Hi all I've just bought some new plants from my lfs, I have 3 amano shrimps and one bamboo shrimp in my 100litre tank. I put them in and the shrimp seemed fine however after around 2 hours I popped out for 30 mins and when I came back I notice 2 of the amanos lying on their backs near the front of the tank. I'm guessing its some sort of copper poisoning from whatever they treat the plants with, so I immediatly got a bucket and took some water from my bettas tank and put them in there. It took me a while but I also got the other amano and the bamboo shrimp, both seemed quite drowsy but weren't on their backs like the other two.

What can I do?

Water changes and run some fresh black carbon.
Also add some fresh filter matting or floss.
Increase aeration.

I've been running the carbon since for about a week now. Should I remove the carbon now and add some new stuff in? And is it safe to add the shrimp now?

After a week the carbon will be well and truly spent, take it out, do a 50% water change and put the shrimp back in.

I wouldn't have bothered moving the shrimp, I would have just done a 50% water change and put the carbon in with the shrimp.

Thanks for the reply, I'll do that and add some new carbon just to be safe.

And I didn't have any carbon on hand to begin with so I had to remove the shrimp.
