I bought six cherry shrimp a few days ago (and was slightly ripped off i think, 6 for £15?! is that normal?)

Anyway, i've put them in their own little tank to acclimatise/quarantine, and found one
dead this morning.

Water parameters are 0 for ammonia and nitrite, and nitrate is 20 (same as my tap water).

One thing i've noticed is they really don't seem to have been eating either sinking algae
wafers or the pellets i've been giving them, that my amano shrimp in my main tank always receive with relish. Also, they're all very inactive, not busy picking about like normal but all just sat, dead still.

Do cherry shrimp starve easily? I usually feed my amanos every two days.

Yeah i knew it, but she'd already bagged them up! I even managed to get her to give me a discount, 6 for the price of 4, but still a total rip off!

a single cherry shrimp at lfs near me are about £2 each...... i got all mine for 25p each from a local breeder :hey:
shrimp can be sensitive to a newly set up tank and its recommended that they shouldnt be added to a tank less than 6 months old, if you have set up a new tank for them then this could be the issue.....

Whats your water stats?
I said in my first post. 0 for amm and nitrite, 20 for nitrate (same as tap).

You might be right. The one they're in has been going about 3 months, it was a cycled fry tank, the fry have just gone to new homes, so i thought while the filter was still up and running i'd add some shrimp to it. My main tank's been going 8 months now so maybe i should just put the survivors straight into that?
