Dwarf Puffers

I think this post should have gone to the oddballs sections...anyways,
in a 15gal tank you can have 3. As for sexing, it's next to impossible sexing juvenile DPs. In short,

the female is more rounder than the male,
the male has a brownish line at its ventral side running from head to tail (more likely the throat area to tail),
and most significantly, the lines behind the males' eyes known as wrinkles. This is the best method for sexing DPs as the shape can be rather difficult to judge and the line at the ventral side of the male may not be clear under stressful conditions.

3 in a 15 gallon? I have 3 in a 6 gallon. People pester me that it's too overcrowded, but it's fine. If you want to here from me, the person who doesn't listen to most stocking rules, I'd put anywhere from 5-9 puffers in there. People will disagree with me as always, but that's cool. ;D

I would put in 3-5. I put 3 in my 6 gallon and one of the puffers killed the other two. You can never be sure with DP's, every so often you might get a few that don't fight. Be wary however, and even if you keep more than one, plant it heavily to avoid the puffers seeing eachother.

Agreed. Heavy planting is key or who knows what they'll do. I'm lucky enough to have pretty docile puffers who don't nip even when they see each other. However, you can never be too sure.
