Dwarf Cichlids And Corys

Hi

Quick question are there any Dwarf Cichlids, such as Apistos or Rams compatable with Corys? and how many could I add to a 54 litre tank

i've kept apistogramma cacatuoides and rams with cory's with no problems, i can't envisage any with other species of apisto's..... maybe someone has some other thoughts but off the top of my head I'd say you'd be fine with all of them.

I've kept Rams and Corys together with no problems in the past.

Thanks for the info, I think that I may get some when the tank has cycled.

The lfs in Belguim that I have just been to has some great Apistos and Corys that I do not see in the UK.

Has anyone ever seen dark almost black looking Rams before?

the Aquatic center just outside birmingham had some a few weeks ago iirc ( i did visit a few shops that weekend so not really curtain which fish where were )

Do you think that these maybe dyed in some way, or just a different colour morph of a Blue Ram. It was very nice and different looking but not going to buy them if they are dyed in anyway.

no the ones i saw were NOT dyed

I cannot find any information about a different coloured Ram anywhere on the net, I can find Blue and Gold rams but not the colour I saw. Great fish and something that I have never seen in the uk.

Was it Shirley Aquatics you went to?

i visited 7 differant aquatic shops in the same weekend! not sure which fish where were!!!!!!!!!!!

Shirley Aquatics was one of them (first and only time ive been there)

How many fish could I add to a 54 litre tank, I have checked the online calculators and it says 9" of fish. Which means I could only add either 2-3 apisto's or 4 Cories (The ones I want anyway)

where did you find a online fish calculator???

Hi dave_m13

I would not recommend keeping corys with cichlids or any other aggressive fish. Even if they don't physically injure the corys, the stress they cause could be harmful to the corys' health.

sorry should have been 11" with a max of 22" I got it from pfk calculator, does this sound right?

Ok conflicting opinions regarding whether they can be kept together or not. I suppose the only way would be to either not get them or to just try and see whether they are ok.

I def want some sort of dwarf cichlid, so may just have to look at something else other than a cory.

Could this tank house a Male and 2 female apisto's

i had to give away my corys cuz my apisto's
were attacking them

dont do it .... just the fact that they are there is stressful for them
