hey...i have read a thread in this forum about stunted fish...A reply was made and stated that cichlids dont get stunted regardless of tank size? Is this true for both the South American and African varieties???
Stunting usually results in either death, or a severely shortened lifespan. Fish do not stop growing in smaller tanks; that is unless death counts as arrested growth.
i think fish get stunted when they are kept in poor water quality, dont get enough to eat ,get the wrong type of food or are being picked on. basically not being looked after
The only way a fish won't be stunted is if death occurs first.
There are a few myths in the aquaria world but none bigger and more harmless than a fish won't outgrow their surroundings. All healthy fish will keep growing no matter how big their surroundings are.
