Hello,

Sorry, this is probably a complete newbie question. :*)

I bought a tank last weekend (a 125 litre Juwel Rio), and am in the process of setting it up. Last week, after installing all the hardware, I added gravel, tap water, sea salt, and some Kent Ammonia Detox.

This weekend I bought 2 kg of living rock, and a Caulerpa plant.

It only occurred to me when I was driving home, do I need to add any plant food yet, or do you think my water contains enough nutrients to sustain plant life? If I need to add plant food, could anyone recommend a good brand, please.

Thanks,

Tom

Never too late to have plant food. I use Nutrafin Aquatic Plant food. Its pretty good stuff and has helped me to maintain my plants. It contains trace ingredients such as iron, manganese and zinc which your tank or water supply may not supply. Hope that helps. :)

Thanks kribsinvcrib, I'll get some food tomorrow. I wouldn't like to see my Caulerpa starting to wilt.

In a brand new set up plant food is essential  , in an established aquarium [ with fish or something creating waiste ] the occasional addition of trace eliments is a good practice .

Remeber plants need regular partial water changes also . ;)
