There is agroup of about 100 eggs stuck to the glass. They are around 1mm and opaque milky white colour. They have to belong to either corydora or clown loach, any ideas?

Thanks,

Karl

I don't think they are eggs then... those fish don't spawn on glass, I believe they are egg scatterers. If it absolutely HAS to be one of the two, it is corydoras, as clown loaches have almost never been successfully bred in captivity.

Hi KarlosFandango :)

Sounds like corydoras eggs.

What kind of corys do you have? Have you recently done a good water change and tank cleaning? That's often all it takes to get them spawning. :D

yup, after every water change my corys reenact there fav fishyporn :D
and the tetras and loaches dine on eggs for a few days :(

Arrhhhhhhh!! That'll explain it. Done a major water change and hooked up my new Eheim filter  We have four, the one in the avatar, a peppered, a bronze and an albino. I don't know whether to try and keep them or not??

A water change will mimic the breeding season when new rain water cools the rivers that Cories live in so it is likely o be them (WELL DONE!). It is very unlikely to be the CLowns as they are VERY hard to breed and I thinktheir eggs are green (could be wrong though)?

In any case good job (unless you have an apple snail in which case it could be that?

Hi KarlosFandango :)

My guess is that you have a mature pair of C. aeneus. The bronze and albino corys are the same species, just color variations. If they bred, their fry would either be one or the other color, (not zebras  ) so you don't have to worry about that. They would not be hybrids or be subject to deformities like hybrids can be.

Since you only have a short period of time to decide whether to keep them, before they hatch or are eaten, I'll give you this link so you can see the way I go about setting up a tank for raising the fry. You will need to scroll down almost to the end.

You can move the eggs from your community tank by rolling them gently off the glass and, while keeping them wet, depositing them into a breeding tank. Be sure there is plenty of water circulation around them.

If you do not wish to do this now, I'm sure they will breed again for you in the future, when the conditions are right.

Good luck with them. :D
