Me again....

2 days ago I purchased a rather cool shirmp with a mind to it keeping my tank spotless.

This morning he has 'disappeared' !!!! (I'm sure he's hiding but he's not come out since 8:00am this morning)

Will a shrimp living with the fishies in my signature be a problem?

I will be gutted if he has been gobbled by his 'chums'.

Andy

BTW, 1/2 an hour after putting my new shrimp in the tank he shread his skin with a quick flick of his tail - right infront of my eyes!!!! Unbelievable!!!

Hi Andy, i have a Shrimp that i very rarely see ,they like to hide away.
The only time i see mine is when i wash something out of the tank in the sink ,he has ended up in there twice.
Mine is in with Glow lights they ignore him.

Phew, thanks for that - thought he was a possible goner then.

When he was first introduced he was all over the plaice (ho ho). I cannot imagine where he has hidden himself away because I have a small tank with only a few artificial plants, rocks & a log thing...

(...oh and an orange octopus and a dinosaur with a stupidly inane grin on it's chops - blame the kids for that).

hi
what sort of shrimp is it??? i have amano (or algae ) shrimps & i know they prefer to have their own kind in the tank & you will see more of them if you have a group but as i dont know what sort of shrimp you have im not sure about yours.
shrimps will often shed their skin after a water change in your tank & your shrimp has probably done this as the water in your tank was a little different than the lfs.
i dont think theres anything in your tank that would go for it but again that depends on what shrimp you have & how big it is.

we used to have 6 amanos in our main tank.....one commited suicide on the first night (walked out of his new home & i found him on his way to our kitchen rather dead the next day) the other 5 we had right up until recently when 3 died in a short space of time, but we' d had them 3+ years & i believe this is prob their lifespan. we're going to get more soon for our big tank. great little creatures!!!

make sure theres lots of hidey holes for him as once he feels secure in his new environment im sure you'll see him more often.
also check all things (like meds ) very carefully before adding them to your tank as a lot are toxic to & will kill your shrimp.

@millym,
Excellent reply, thank you.

I have one Japonica or Takashi Amano Shrimp - and he is still hiding somewhere...

Thanks again,

Andy
