Hello all, I am wanting some feed back on people that keep or have kept Demasoni Cichlids. I know they are very aggressive. I am wanting to know more about what you all have been feeding them? I have read they are herbavior fish, is this true? A balanced diet I know is best but do they lean more to the herb side?

Also would it be safe to house them with a few cory cats and a fancy long fin pleco?

just from the aggressive point of view i would say no to a fancy pleco or the cories.

I would go for a Marbled Sailfin Pleco and plenty of places to hide, incase the chichlid takes a turn to him

Just make sure your tank can accomodate a 50cm long fish.

I've had these in the past and fed them on NLS (New life spectrum)could just feed this alone and it would be fine but for a little variety I fed them cucumber and now and then tetra pro vegetable. Best keeping them in large groups to but even then they can be a nightmare. Wouldn't recommend the corys, the plec could be ok but if your looking for a bottom feeder to go with Malawi's i'd recommend some synodontis petricola they are stunning and fit perfectly with mbuna. :good:

the pleco depends on size of tank though

Yeah i know but i dont think the plec will work anyway IMO

same, but i did see a big marbled sailfin in a pihrana tank though

armoured pleco might not be bad, albino BN's could work

True, maybe it will be ok but i think the synodontis species would work perfect and they give the tank a more natural look.

i'll have a look at them

holy crap that looks wierd!

Still think this would look better

i have a plec like that in with my demonsoni they are poo machine btw and although they are tough serve no purpose to the tank but get on fine!
i have a group that kill one fish about once a month but also breed so keep the stock up  and a happy trio 1m 2f who i have no issues with which works best for me
