Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): The colors are normal but the bodies are compressed, as if the bodies are not getting developed properly. The growth especially the green barb is more in towards the the bellies and not lengthening from nose to tail like normal. The rosy barb has a twist in it's back and its nose is pressed in. The nose pressed in seems to be a problem with many of the barbs with many of the barbs in the tank.
I have had many of these fish for a long time in a 10 gal tank and they were healthy before I transfered them into this tank. All the items inside the tank including one of the powerfilters came from the 10 gal tank, the other was new. The only new fish that was introduced in this tank was the yellow rosy barb and a few other fish that have unfortunatly passed away with the same abnormal growth patterns, and with simple ripped fins that got infected that would not heal even with normal medications that always worked.
Another example of differences is that there is a cheery barb in this tank and a pair in my 10 gal tank. The pair is far younger and far over crowded (sorry for that but I bought then noticed this problem) and they are longer, fatter and far more active... It is frustrating
I got the tank from a friend of a friend and can't find out if they did anything to it. I'm pretty sure that these fish aren't in severe pain as they come and beg for food like the fish in the other tank, but I want to know if there is something I can do to help their growth and life.
Volume and Frequency of water changes: I try to get between a 30% and 50 % water change every week to week and half.
Chemical Additives or Media in your tank:I have some additive that aids in the healing of sores and fins, since this tank has mostly barbs fights occur and I find one or two with a torn fin, this *used* to help them in the old tank heal them in a few days. Now they seem slow to heal using this stuff or not, discontinued use.
Tank inhabitants: Three rosy barbs (2 red, 1 yellow), one cherry barb, Two regular tiger barbs, two green barbs, one silver fish the size of the cherry barb unknown shown up with green barbs and lived with them ever since, one armoured rubber mouth sucker fish (about 6")
Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): I took a large plant out of my 10 gal tank and placed it in this tank, after rincing it with warm water.
Exposure to chemicals: Unsure.
