I don't know how it happened, but today I came home and saw one of my rasboras dead. She was a female and for some reason yet unknown she had no eyeballs when I found her dead? :shout: I have a ten gallon with 2 Honey Gouramis and now two Hralequin Rasboras.(Both male). Both of the males stay up in the right hand corner as I write this right now. They haven't moved since I noticed the dead fish(thats when I noticed the two males too) I've had these fish for 6 months now. Yesterday I did a water change and the weekly maintainence as usual. the same routine I've been doing since I got the fish. She was looking real great yesterday last time I noticed. What is happening? Does anyone have some suggestions as to why she died? Help appreciated!

The ph is 7.1 and the temp is set to 77 degrees farnenhiet. I already gave the ph but here is the :

Nitrate-0
Nitrite-0
Ammonia-0

I only found it dead. So I don't know if there was any labored breathing or swim funny. But the last time I checked(yesterday) she swam normally. No labored breathing or such...
I don't use tap water. I used these big liter water bottles that has water like bottled water. -_- Is this bad?...

Im bettin your gourami did that ive witnessed gourami's
chase and attack community fish quite a bit but im no expert.
sorry about your fish man.

Poor fishy :(
In my inexperienced opinion.
If the gourami seem okay and the rasboras not, it'd be the first thing in my mind.....
Only way to know for sure is observation.
On the bottled water make sure you check the ingredients and mineral content, some bottled waters have odd concentrations of minerals that could potentially effect your fish, or so i've heard.
Make sure you check all your fish for discolouration, lesions and general oddities, physically and behaviourally on a regular basis. Be especially careful in the next few weeks in case you missed something on the dead fish. Was there any scales missing or any damage to its fins?

I wouldn't use bottled water in your tank unless you really have to, yes there are things in your tap water that are not good for fish, but there's lots in there which they need that you don't always get in bottled water. switch to using dechlorinated tap water and save yourself a bit of money.

is it just the honey gourami's and the rasbora's in the tank? any other fish?

are you sure those readings are correct? wha test kit are you using and how long have you had it? they do expire after a while. Just a reading of 0 nitrates in any tank is odd, you're filter should be converting the fish's waste to nitrate and while the tank isn't really overstocked it's not stoced so lightly that you'd keep nitrates that low. :/

it does sound like it could be bullying behaviour if all the smaller fish are hiding, do you know if your gourami's are male/female. it could be that they are fighting/breeding and have scared off all the other fish.

can you get a tank divider, see if you can section off the tank with the gourami's in one side and the rasbora's on the other, not as a long term solution but if you do this and after a day or so the rasbora's start to swim around normally again then you have the cause of your problem and need to re-home some of the fish. if not then watch your tank and the behaviour of your fish very closely the next few days
