im not familier with puffers but my boyfriend just recently purchased one and it died :( we had him for about 3 days and he was in a well filtered tank with out a heater but believe me the water was warm already, myboyfirends room is like a stove. he was fed 3 blood worms twice a day. so what did we do wrong?

Ther are a few Q's that I need to ask to help determine the cause of death.

1) Do you know what kind of puffer you had?

2) Was the tank cycled?

3) What are/were the water readings (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, ph)

Answers to these Q' will really help.

the water levels were fine, the tank was cycled and ready to go i dont knowexactly what it was called but we got him at petsmart and he can get up to 1.5 inches if that helps. and the lady at petsmart told my boyfriend that it didnt need salt in the tank.

That would be a dwarf puffer?
Ah petsmart.
That could be the reason why your puffer is dead.
I'm taking it it was on its own yeah?
Rob

no it was with a group of around 9 and we bought him on his own.

right so you have 8 dps now?
What size tank?
Also - dps are fresh water puffers - so you would do better in the oddballs forum :good:
