Hi all,

One of my dalmation mollies has been acting very strangely for the last 24hours.

It has been spending quite a bit of time floating just below the water surface. When it swims further down the tank, it swims almost vertically with its head down.

When I look closely at the fish's head, at times it looks as if it is twitching rapidly from side to side. It also has a little blue tinge/shine to it.

I have done a quick google search, and there is some evidence which may suggest its a swim bladder problem.

My other mollies are acting perfectly fine.

Tank: Juwel Rio 125
Ammonia: 0ppm
Nitrite: 0ppm
Nitrate: 10ppm
Temp: 26deg
Fish: 2 mollies, 2 platies, 5 zebra danios, 6 glowlight tetras and a bristlenose

Many thanks for any help,

Seb

Hi Seb

Does the molly look swollen at all? Could you try feeding some shelled peas in case she's constipated.

Is the fish 'shimmying' at all as this is a well known molly disease.

Any signs of flicking and rubbing, excess mucas, darting, erratic swimming, laboured breathing.
