Hi I bought a crib fish yesterday and I can't find any information on them. Its a nice looking fish. I just want to know basic care for this type of fish?
Thanks.

Thank you. That's it. Its colour is quite pale just now. I am hoping his colour will come out soon.

I had about 15 neon tetras in my tank. Apart from 4 which are fully grown, the rest were tiny. I noticed today that I now only have 8 neons. I also noticed my krib chasing a few yesterday. Could the krib have eaten the other smaller neons???
Maidenhead aquatics said the krib is a relatively peaceful fish. Its also chasing our opaline gourami out of its corner.

How long has the gourami been in the tank with the neons? Has it ever eaten any?

My Kribs never touched any other fish but as with many cichlids the temperament is so variable depending on the individual fish. I would not find it hard to believe that a particularly feisty kribensis can eat neons.
If you want to keep the smaller fish in your tank I would suggest removing the krib If it eats any more. It's interesting that he ate them so early.

The gourami has been in 3 days with the neons. The krib was in 1 day. He hasn't eaten any more. He does chase the gourami away all the time. If the gourami stays middle-top of the tank its fine. The second it goes below middle the krib is on to him.

I would keep a close eye on both the gourami and the krib. Both are capable of eating tetras.

I noticed yesterday that my krib looked like it was rubbing itself on my gravel, wood and plants. Didn't think much of it. Today when I was doing my water change I've noticed that his left eye is bulging. Does anyone know what could be wrong?
He is also staying in the one spot a lot, still swimming, but staying in his position. Eating a lot less than he normally does.

Been cycled almost 2 years now (fish in) :(
Opaline gourami, 13 glowlights, 8 neons and I think a zebra loach.

This is called flashing.  It is normally an indicator that something is irritating the fish, such as water parameters or an internal bacterial infection.

For the eye issue it sounds like Pop Eye, which is a symptom of an underlying infection. DO you have a QT tank where you can isolate the Krib?

pH might be an issue.  The Krib is better off at a pH around 7.0.

What about Hardness and Temperature?  Temp should be around 76F and Hardness around 10dGH.

Knowing full params can help rule out general water issues.

Sorry we couldn't help you and your kribensis arcticfox. May he rest in peace. :(
Look for similar symptoms in your other fish in case the disease spreads.
